BERGERecotrail® PerformanceEco LTOe: Lightweight construction for electric tractors
With the new BERGERecotrail® PerformanceEco LTOe, Schmitz Cargobull is offering a lightweight semi-trailer specifically designed for use with electric tractor units. This addresses the common practical problem that, with electric tractor units – particularly those with an electric axle – the permissible rear axle load is quickly exceeded. The PerformanceEco LTOe offers an effective solution to this: the shortened wheelbase reduces the load on both the kingpin of the curtainsider and the drive axle of the tractor unit.
“Added to this is the light weight of the BERGER vehicle, which offers further potential,” adds Matthias Muffert, Head of Product Management for the General Cargo product line. Together, the low kerb weight – starting at 4.7 tonnes – and the adapted wheelbase enable a higher payload per journey and thus up to ten per cent fewer journeys for the same transport volume – with a corresponding reduction in energy consumption, vehicle wear and tear, and CO₂ emissions.
Efficient loading and unloading
The PerformanceEco LTOe body is certified for the transport of beverages (single-layer crates of drinks on pallets and kegs) and general cargo in accordance with DIN EN 12642 Code XL, DIN EN 12195-1 and VDI 2700, ensuring maximum payload. As an option, the vehicle can be fitted with the additional weight-optimised POWER CURTAIN body from Schmitz Cargobull: with no top slats but featuring integrated aramid straps for certified body strength, the vehicle can be loaded and unloaded quickly and easily.
