AI Assistant DR. COOL

May I introduce myself? DR. COOL. How can I help?

With DR. COOL, Schmitz Cargobull has developed an AI-powered service assistant for the maintenance and repair of refrigeration units. Early users share their experiences.

Operational readiness, round-the-clock support for refrigerated vehicles and transport refrigeration units. Schmitz Cargobull is constantly expanding its service programme to achieve this goal. Alongside its mobile service, which provides maintenance and repairs directly at the customer’s premises, DR. COOL now complements the offering as a further effective tool.

DR. COOL was developed as an AI-powered service assistant to make the diagnosis, maintenance and repair of transport refrigeration units simpler and more efficient. The intelligent chatbot assists service engineers with troubleshooting and provides instant targeted information.

The system was initially launched on the North American market and is now being rolled out across Europe. Through the Cargobull PartnerConnect portal, dealers, service partners and trained specialists have quick and easy access to the digital assistant.

Ultimately, shorter waiting times for customers

Thanks to the targeted and clear support provided by DR. COOL, Oleg Nikolaev and his colleague Mejd Ibrahim (pictured) were able to identify a faulty scroll compressor and replace it without further ado.

For Oleg Nikolaev, too, the time saved is a key benefit of DR. COOL. The 26-year-old has been part of Schmitz Cargobull’s service van fleet since May 2026, but had already gained experience with S.CU transport refrigeration units during his apprenticeship. He mainly works in the Ruhr region, but occasionally also in France. “I tried out DR. COOL for the first time in mid-August. When things get hectic, the system is a brilliant addition,” he says. “Last month, for example, I had a problem with the control panel on an S.CU in France. Normally it’s plug-and-play, but in that particular case things turned out to be a bit more complicated. I was then able to sort out the problem using DR. COOL on my laptop, which was really helpful.”

He generally appreciates the plain-text display (“what you read on the screen sticks in your mind straight away”), and he is also impressed by the user-friendliness and the potential of machine learning: “The more partners use the system and ‘feed’ it with problems, the better it becomes. In future, it will be possible to find solutions even more quickly and easily, which ultimately means shorter downtime for customers.”

Edina Téczely-Eichkern, service coordinator at Best Camion Kft., in Bicske, just under 40 kilometres west of Budapest, has also been using DR. COOL more and more frequently since August. “The assistant is a useful tool for troubleshooting; it provides an immediate answer and offers further suggestions."

“If, despite everything, you’re still unable to proceed, DR. COOL also recommends contacting technical support yourself – that way you’ll know the problem runs deeper. And, of course, it’s also great that you can communicate in Hungarian without any trouble.”

Her conclusion is clear: “I consider this application to be a very good and forward-looking initiative and see great potential for its further development.”
