New aluminium box body for the S.KI LIGHT: lightweight, robust and easy to maintain
Schmitz Cargobull has comprehensively overhauled and specifically refined the lightweight aluminium body of the S.KI LIGHT semi-trailer tipper. The new generation combines a still-low unladen weight with significantly increased robustness, a longer service life and improved ease of maintenance.
The vehicle unveiled at the IAA 2026, with a load capacity of 50 m³ and an overall length of 9.6m, is particularly well suited to transporting crops such as grain. A galvanised chassis ensures reliable protection against corrosion, even in changing weather conditions and under intensive use, which extends its service life and ensures a high resale value. The roll-up tarpaulin with quick-release fastening system allows for quick operation and reliably protects the load from the elements.
“The S.KI light has been developed to deliver maximum payload, reduced downtime and the highest performance day in, day out,” summarises Mark Hartmann, Head of Product Management and Technical Sales for the Construction & Agriculture Product Line. At the heart of the technical improvements is a significantly enhanced stability of the tipper body, with reinforcements in areas subject to particularly high stress.
Further practical features, such as an aluminium combination door with two grain slides for precise, low-loss unloading, a new underrun protection locking mechanism with a spring-assisted lifting aid, LED interior lighting for the tipper body, optional camera systems for monitoring the interior and rear area, and a brake pad wear indicator round off the overall package.
