S.CS MEGA X-TOUGH: durability meets capacity

With the S.CS MEGA X-TOUGH semi-trailer curtainsider, Schmitz Cargobull is targeting transport operations that require both heavy loads and a large load volume. The vehicle combines a low neck height with high permissible point loads, making it particularly suitable for transporting heavy yet bulky goods such as batteries for the automotive industry or vertical paper rolls with heights exceeding 2,800mm.

The robust S.CS MEGA X-TOUGH has been specially developed for countries with a gross vehicle weight of 44 tonnes and above. It is based on the Schmitz Cargobull chassis range featuring galvanised and bolted chassis. The special X-TOUGH chassis impresses with its high bending and torsional strength, making it ideal for heavy loads in day-to-day use. With cross-member spacing of less than 400mm in the chassis structure, the vehicle is particularly resilient and capable of withstanding heavy loads. The floor, made of 30mm-thick laminated timber, is specifically designed for intensive handling with forklift trucks. The standard load capacity is 9.5 tonnes.

Flexibility to meet changing requirements

When combined with the VARIOS body, the S.CS MEGA X-TOUGH can be flexibly adapted to different loading heights. The continuously height-adjustable lifting roof, coupled with a simple and robust mechanism, enables quick adaptation to changing requirements in day-to-day transport operations.

The continuous row of lashing points in the outer frame offers flexible options for securing a variety of cargo. “In addition, the vehicle offers further advantages and new features, such as the optimised Schmitz Cargobull sliding rail system,” emphasises Matthias Muffert, Head of Product Management for the General Cargo product line. “It has been optimised in terms of weight and handling and, with a new slat pocket layout, can effectively meet all the certification requirements demanded by the market.”
