Digitalisation of the trailer ecosystem: efficient, connected and transparent fleet processes

The systematic digitalisation of the trailer ecosystem plays a central role in Schmitz Cargobull’s strategy: Together, the Cargobull Operating System (COS), the new diagnostic software Cargobull Trailer Diagnostics and the MyCargobull customer portal form the basis for efficient, connected and transparent fleet processes.

As an operating system, the COS connects sensor data, control units and telematics on a central platform – from the road to the cloud. “With the Cargobull Operating System, trailers become intelligent, connected systems that make data usable in a targeted manner. COS creates real added value for our customers – through greater efficiency, increased transparency and optimised transport processes,” says Dr Cafer Ince, Head of Product Line Digital Services at Schmitz Cargobull.

A key component of the COS is the software-defined trailer. It consolidates all relevant data from sensors, telematics and trailer control systems within a unified system architecture and makes it available centrally. Artificial Intelligence (AI)-supported analyses and real-time data help to detect anomalies at an early stage, plan maintenance more effectively and automate processes.

TrailerConnect®: real-time transparency

Via the TrailerConnect® portal, fleet operators have access to transparent, real-time information on all relevant components, such as axles, brakes and refrigeration units. Furthermore, functions can be monitored and controlled remotely, maintenance can be scheduled automatically, and third-party systems can be seamlessly integrated. This transforms the trailer into a connected system that sustainably enhances efficiency, availability and operational reliability.

Schmitz Cargobull provides a central, GDPR-compliant data platform in the form of the Data Management Centre (DMC). The DMC consolidates telematics and third-party data into a single, unified database. This provides a consistent overview even in mixed fleets, and, in combination with TourTrack, enables end-to-end digital traceability of shipments. The user decides when, where and with whom they share which data.

Cargobull Trailer Diagnostics: new Windows diagnostic application now available

TrailerDiagnostics

With Cargobull Trailer Diagnostics, Schmitz Cargobull is introducing new diagnostic software that speeds up service processes and increases vehicle availability. As an integrated platform, the solution enables a comprehensive diagnosis of the entire vehicle. Guided troubleshooting, a modern user interface, full transparency regarding fault codes and an estimate of repair time support service partners in their day-to-day work.

As an integral part of the COS, Trailer Diagnostics delivers real added value through faster processes, higher uptime and lower service costs. Service partners and customers receive proactive information about software updates and digital innovations directly via the TrailerConnect® portal. In addition, certain equipment-related updates can be installed directly ‘over-the-air’ – a benefit that saves time for both customers and workshops alike.
