Interview
More.Value. at every level
In an interview, Andreas Schmitz explains how its “More.Value.” initiative sums up Schmitz Cargobull’s approach to business: high-performing products, connected digital solutions and first-class services.
Benefitting the customer is at the heart of everything that Schmitz Cargobull does. The company’s manufacturing costs are higher because it believes in durable and effective solutions. Ensuring that the customer gets meaningful payback quickly is crucial. Check out the video of the full interview.
While total running costs and resale value are important in creating genuine more value for the customer, they are by no means the only factors that matter. In addition to bespoke services, the focus is always on the here and now: “During day-to-day use, our trailers and products need to help customers to work as efficiently as possible,” says Schmitz.
The key element here is not the purchase price, but the ability to increase productivity each and every working day. “Our developers understand that it’s okay if our trailers are a little more expensive, provided that the additional cost also delivers genuine added value,” explains Schmitz.
“More.Value. is a philosophy followed by Schmitz Cargobull’s engineers, too.”

Schmitz Cargobull’s galvanised chassis is a prime example here. “While galvanising is slightly more expensive, particularly at the acquisition stage, it is worth its weight in gold across the trailer’s service life, and of course when it comes to resale value, too,” explains Schmitz.
In the area of refrigerated transport, it is the high-quality bodies and efficient cooling units that help customers to save money on a daily basis. “If we reduce the k-value from the legally required level of 0.4 to 0.36, our customers will find that there is 10% less strain on their cooling unit. This automatically means it consumes up to 10% less diesel.” And the impacts continue into service, as when the operating time is 10% shorter, the intervals between services are longer.

“Our cooling unit can cool down a lot quicker and maintain its temperature much more efficiently.”
At the mention of telematics, Andreas Schmitz starts to speak about Schmitz Cargobull’s TrailerConnect® telematics system, which ensures comprehensive digital monitoring and transparency when it comes to the trailer and transport process. The “Smart Trailer” is therefore becoming a palpable reality, both for operators and their customers through the TrailerConnect® telematics system, which continuously monitors and records the refrigerated trailer’s temperatures.
Bespoke services round off the package. “We cater to all of our customers’ needs. So, they can concentrate on what they do best – delivering optimum transport performance for their customers,” sums up Schmitz.
